Installation for experimental violin automat (2017)
Exhibition “Music Machines” held in Design and Architecture gallery, Tallinn during the “World Music Days” will introduce sound objects-machines. In a way, all of them represent an experiment in order to visualize/embody sound through the technological spectrum. Karl F. Gerber has set up a violin-automaton that emphasizes the complex technical skills required for playing the violin as an instrument; at the same time, Gerber has constructed a unique source of sound out of the violin. A special sound is born out of Ana Horvat’s interactive score — a sound that is probably never performed by any symphony orchestra. Samuel Gaspar Grillusz’s has created sounds out of light with an overhead projector, thus paying homage to the synesthetic synthesizer originating from the early 20th century. When the public has studied the interactive pieces, a sound collage by Claudia Molitor will be for enjoyment in a cosy nest – this is the performance that will lead the audience to soundscapes, away from the daily routine and hurrying.
